Halloween excitement is already building, and my kids have decided on their costumes three times over (currently a cat, Captain Underpants and a pumpkin)!
As with most things though, it seems celebrating Halloween might look a little different this year.
We love dressing up and decorating the house, but the kids dipping their hands into communal pots of sweets seems a little unlikely at the moment. We don’t want to upset people by knocking on their doors either.
So, we wondered whether a Calderdale Pumpkin Trail could be the answer!
The rainbow trails were a brilliant way to keep kids busy during lockdown and this would be the same idea – just with pumpkins.
Children could make a pumpkin picture – complete with a scary face design – and put it in their window. We can then see how many pumpkins children can spot as they go out over Halloween.
For every pumpkin your child spots, you could put a sweet or little toy in their Trick or Treat bag.
Children could do the trail at any time over the half-term, and it’s a way for them to Trick or Treat – and get treats – without knocking on doors and rummaging around in a pot of sweets.
Let us know what you think over on the Calderdale Mumbler Chat Group.
We’ve also put together a blog on alternative ways to celebrate Halloween with kids, that you can read here.
