Halifax might not be known for its digital influence, but that could all change with an exciting new festival!
Halifax Digital Festival 2019 launches today (September 18), and runs until September 21, with events and workshops for all ages.
Family-friendly events include coding workshops, and talks about careers in technology.
Tanya Hirst, IT Talent Development Lead, said she hopes the festival will be memorable and meaningful. “I’m truly excited to be supporting the event and proud to be putting something together for different age groups in the community,” shares Tanya.
“It’s a first for Halifax to be doing something with this theme and I’m really looking forward to attending a variety of fun and engaging activities and events over the festival period.”
The festival aims to raise awareness and educate people on the exciting digital/tech movement in Halifax, as well as celebrating Halifax’s heritage and showcasing local success stories.
Run by Calderdale Libraries, Code Club UK and Lloyds Banking Group, this interactive session is for local school children to try their hand at coding. No experience necessary, equipment will be provided.
They can develop their skills, learn the basics of programming interactive stories, games and animations, while improving coding capabilities.
Friday, September 20 2019. 10am-noon & 1-3pm. Halifax Central Library, Square Road.
Working with Calderdale College, digital professions from a range of disciplines will talk about what they do and how they got there.
