There’s all sorts happening for families in Halifax and Calderdale around Halloween! From a big Spooktacular at Manor Heath to smaller parties at play gyms, there is something to scare – or satisfy – all ages.

So paint on your scary faces and head down to these frightful parties and events in Halifax and the surrounding areas.

The monsters are coming for a Halloween party! Help get everything ready for them by making fizzing oozy drinks, spider and green snot slime and calling the monsters when it’s time for tea. You can taste Goblin juice, make shrunken heads and have a wonderfully spooky time!
Rock Halloween on wheels at Halifax YMCA’s Spooktacular Halloween Party. There are two parties to choose from; Friday, October 25, or Saturday, October 26. Both 6-8pm. Tickets cost £5 and include pizza or a hotdog, a spooky bun and a drink. Fancy dress optional, prizes for the best costumes.
Visit The Piece Hall at dusk to go on a secret tour with spooky stories from The Piece Hall’s past, then warm up with hot chocolate and sweet treats.
Suitable for families with children aged 5-11.
Halifax Spooktacular returns on Thursday, October 26 at Manor Heath! Gates open at 5pm, with family entertainment, refreshments, fireworks and much more. Tickets available at the entrance on the day – but are cheaper if you book in advance.
Grab your cloaks, wands and broomsticks; witches and wizards have flown into Eureka and are holding an official Halloween recruitment drive!
Budding Harry Potters and Mildred Hubbles will be put through their paces, with a series of tasks and tests to complete before pledging allegiance.
Spooky fancy dress encouraged!
Activities included in the price of admission and free to annual pass holders.
Fun party for kids aged 1-6, with a bouncy castle, disco music, party games, a special spooky guest and a party tea. £10 per child. Limited tickets available.
Brave the spooky trail around Shibden Hall with a craft afterwards. Included in the entrance price to the hall. Ages 4-12.
Enjoy spooky crafts and games while creating your own skeleton at Bankfield Museum.
Create and decorate witches brooms, carve a pumpkin or enjoy a slime party and breakfast. See the website for full details.
Have fun finding the ghosts and ghouls of Brighouse. Trail sheets available and treats for kids in costume (while stocks last). Children aged 12 and under only, must be accompanied.
Head to Greetland Community Centre for a spooky family party with a children’s entertainer and a disco. Fancy dress optional.
All aboard for a spooky ride on the Halloween rain with spooky stories, spells, creepy colouring and more. Fancy dress encouraged!
All aboard, junior witches and wizards-in-the-making! This Wizard Express steam train will take you to wizarding class at Shelley Station for a 45 minute interactive session where they will meet magical guests and learn all there is to know about broomstick-riding, wand-waving and potion-making! The Halloween Ghost Train is for older children, lasts one hour and runs on the evenings of October 29, 30 & 31, 2020.

Follow the clues through the house and grounds to find the scarecrows and tiptoe through the haunted woods – be careful not to wake the scarecrows! Creepy crafts inside the house.
Get into the spooky spirit with the Monster Mash panto show, terrifying Haunted House, zombie laser gun challenge and find real witches in the enchanted forest!
Join two spooky parades in Haworth on Halloween weekend.
Scare yourselves silly in the darkened house and frightening farm and enjoy spooky crafts, stories and treats. Wear your most frightful outfits to fend off ghostly surprises!
You can also brave an eerie evening trip to the Spooky Spooktacular (tickets from Eventbrite).
On October 30, bring your own pumpkin to carve from 1-3pm, or carve the one you planted if you took part in seed planting earlier in the year.
Tickets are limited and can be purchased via eventbrite or in advance from the courtyard shop.
