Little Strikers

Little Strikers encourages all aspects of mental and physical development through football, for children aged 1-6. Using specially-designed equipment for children, and with parental participation, we develop a number of key skills.

Rastrick Tennis Club

Coaching programmes to cater for children aged two and upwards. Classes include Teenie Tennis (pre-school parent and toddler class for children aged 2-4), Red 2 (aged 4-7), Red 1 (aged 6-9) and more.

Classes run to the school term, generally in blocks of 5-7 weeks.

A free taster session is offered before signing up.

Courses include:

  • Teenie Tennis– A pre-school parent and toddler class for children aged 2-4
  • Red 2– Our first level of Mini Red aimed at newcomers to tennis aimed at children aged 4-7
  • Red 1– When children have mastered the basics and understanding of each stroke they move to Mini Red 1 where they should be able to rally and score a simple match (aged 6-9)
  • Mini Orange– When children can consistently rally and score they move to Mini Orange which is played over a bigger net with a bigger court and a low compression felt ball (aged 8-10)
  • Mini Green – After moving through Mini Orange children move to a full sized court using a new, higher bouncing (green) ball. They develop their strokes and tactics preparing themselves for the Junior classes and full ball (aged 10-12).
  • Junior 2– Our first full ball junior squad . For older juniors who are new to tennis or for those who have progressed through the mini tennis programme. Full court singles and doubles game based drills are played in a sociable fun environemnt (aged 11+).
  • Junior 1- Our junior squad for the more advanced juniors. This is aimed at juniors who play outside of squads and who will represent the club in their local leagues (aged 12+).

Shaytots – Football classes

A football play programme run by FC Halifax Town for children aged six months to four years.

Shaytots is a unique and fun-based concept using football as a medium to develop physical, social and mental skills.

  • Three different stages of leaning tailored specifically to the needs of children aged between six months and four years
  • The use of numbers, colours and alphabet is incorporated into sessions to encourage cognitive development
  • Unique syllabus with specialist equipment to aid the development of physical literacy

Elland Tennis Club

Coaching runs from Easter to October half term. Sessions include Red, where your child will learn all the basic strokes, Orange/Green where they adapt to using a higher bouncing, smaller ball over a bigger court, and Juniors, where they play on a full-size court with full tennis balls.

Dynamic, weekly play sessions for boys and girls aged 2-3.5 to develop their physical and social skills.

Rugger Ratz

Rugger Ratz is a fun, energetic introduction to rugby, designed to give your child a head start with the sport skills that are essential for many different sporting activities.

Age 2-3: Saturdays, 10.15am-10.45am. Sundays, 10am-10.30.

Age 3-5: Saturdays, 9.30am-10.15am, 10.45am-11.30am. Sundays, 10.30am-11.15am.

Age 5-6: Saturdays, 9.15am-10am. Sundays, 9am-9.45am.

Age 6+: Saturdays, 10am-10.45am.

Striker Tots

Striker Tots provides a structured programme of football coaching sessions for toddlers and young children in Calderdale. Head coach is ex-professional footballer Richard Graham, and classes teach and develop basic football skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting and heading, as well as social skills like teamwork, sharing and communication.

Sessions on Thursdays at 1pm and 1.45pm at St John the Devine Church Hall in Rastrick, and Saturdays at 9.30am and 10.15am at St Andrews Methodist Church, Halifax.
