Calderdale and the surrounding areas are a fantastic place for bringing up children and there is plenty going on for children.
Below is a list of all the local playgroups and drop in clinics throughout the week and also details of all the children’s activities classes available across our area. Please contact the organisers directly if you would like to find out further information or to confirm class times or costs.

Pre-school dance parties for tots and their grown ups, encouraging kids to interact through songs, dancing and games. You’ll find pom-poms, teddies and parachutes and have fun, build confidence and relax with friends.
Classes include: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10am, The Limelight Studio, Rastrick (enjoy free juice and fruit and every session finishes with a min disco with a glitter ball and coloured lighting); Tuesdays, 10am, The Edge Play Gym, Brighouse (free play afterwards included); Thursdays, 10am, Jungle At The Junction, Queensbury (includes an hour of free play either before or after class).

Board of being indoors all day? Then come and play in our private woodland. There’s a tipi, mud kitchen, plenty of materials for den making, trees for climbing, a hammock, swing and plenty to get the imagination going, as well as a campfire where we have hot chocolate.
Learn how to use tools and rope to make equipment, such as log dogs and hobby horses. The opportunities are endless. But most of all, have fun and follow your own imagination.
Family Fun at the Forgotten Forest – fun for all age family members every other Sunday.
Forest School – outdoor fun for children on Mondays. Sessions can be booked for the morning or afternoon and are block booked for four weeks.
Play as You Go – Friday outdoor play provision sessions. Usually themed around a book.

Baby Sensory is an interactive, multi-sensory experience combining massage, music, light shows, signing, puppets singing and much more. Classes run Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Forty minutes of songs and rhymes led by an Early Years Librarian and Early Childhood Music Specialist. You and your baby will explore traditional songs and rhymes and add new ones to your repertoire.

Buggy4Fitness is a fun, hour-long outdoors, postnatal workout, focussing on a wide variety of postnatal-specific exercises. Mums of all fitness levels are welcome. You can join as early as 6-10 weeks after birth.

Classes range from Aquababies (6 months – 2 years), Aquatots (2-4 years) and Ducklings (3-5), who are accompanied in the water with a responsible adult.
From Ducklings to going it alone, your child will move to mainstream lessons aged 5 upwards. These lessons take place with other children of the same ability in the water on their own.

Mini Massage courses are sociable, relaxed and fun. The course is open to infants from birth up to pre-crawling and guides you through a step-by-step massage routine, which combines a balance of relaxing and stimulating massage, reflexology techniques and yoga movement. Refreshments and socialising time are offered at the end of each class.
A bottle of Organic Sunflower Oil is included.

We run music classes for babies, toddlers and pre-school children in Brighouse, Copley, Eccleshill, Halifax, Mytholmroyd, Oakenshaw and Queensbury.
Sessions include exploring different percussion sounds, building confidence and self-expression through dance, practicing rhymes to develop speech and finding their singing voice and learning to sing in tune.

Fun and swinging dance and gentle movement classes for mums and dads with their little ones in slings and baby carriers.
Musical styles include pop, hip hop, Charleston, Cha Cha, Salsa, Meringue, Bachata, Raggaeton, Swing, Disco, Musical Theatre, Ballroom and more.
Participants are encouraged to wear their littles ones in high quality slings and carriers and spaces are always available for people wanting to try it out.
