Are you a new parent? Would you like to attend face-to-face sessions during lockdown?

We are a Covid-secure group with permission to run face-to-face sessions for new parents.

Moo Born is a 4 week course suitable for babies from 0 to pre-moving.

We blend together our beautiful Moo Music and also tummy time instruction to provide new parents the opportunity to learn about their baby’s development, spend time with people on the same journey as them, as well as provide some much needed light relief and fun.

Our new block starts on the week commencing February 8 and lasts for four weeks.

It is at Ashfield House Day Nursery, Norman Lane, Bradford.

Social  

Boothtown Children’s Centre – Breastfeeding Group

Friendly and supportive group for breastfeeding mums and their families.

Held in a relaxed setting, it’s hosted by peer supporters and there are activities provided for older siblings.

Calderdale Breastfeeding Support Network

Mums who are breastfeeding may, at times, need some extra help and support and that is where the Calderdale Breastfeeding Support Network can help.

The network is made up of women who have breastfed their own children and who work as volunteers alongside other health professionals to offer support to breastfeeding mums.

All Peer Supporters have received training and can offer information during pregnancy and friendly, non-judgemental support after baby’s birth.

A Peer Supporter can offer you:

  • Time in which to give any help you need with breastfeeding
  • Help in getting the baby latched on properly
  • More information about breastfeeding difficulties and how to overcome them
  • Telephone support to any breastfeeding woman
  • Social networking, befriending and contact with other breastfeeding women
  • Support at local breastfeeding groups
  • Support at Baby Café, Children’s Centre groups, antenatal clinics and hospitals.

Calderdale Staying Safe – Domestic Abuse Support

Free and confidential help and support for ANYONE aged 16 and over who lives in Calderdale and has been affected by domestic abuse. Support is also available for children aged 5 years and over.

Our skilled workers can offer you:

  • Practical and emotional support
  • Help to explore your options and make the right choices for you and your children
  • Information on a range of topics, such as housing, benefits, immigration, health and wellbeing, honour based violence and forced marriage
  • Support to access other agencies that can help
  • Legal and court support with help to understand the court process
  • Safety advice
  • Help with civil protection orders

Family Voice Calderdale

A forum for parents and carers of children and young people (from pre-school to 25) with additional needs in Calderdale.

It meets monthly and hosts events, is part of decision-making groups and attends regional meetings of parent carer forums in Yorkshire and Humberside.

Halifax and Huddersfield Nappy Library

Thinking about using cloth nappies? Worried about making the transition from disposable to reusable?

Halifax and Huddersfield Nappy Library is an advisory and support network to promote the use of cloth nappies, offering free, impartial advice and a loan service, letting you try before you buy.

30 minute nappy demonstrations, comparing different styles of real nappies. Meet the second Thursday of every month. Weekly coffee mornings are held next door, which you can attend for £1 and bring your drink to the demo.

Halifax Opportunities Trust Dads Group

Fun activities for babies, children and their dads, male carers, granddads, uncles or step dads.

Meet-ups are the third Saturday of the month at Halifax Fire Station, Skircoat Moor Road, 10am-noon.

Halifax Sling Library Drop-In

The Halifax Sling Library is held every Tuesday at Play Palace, Halifax.

Come and learn about optimal infant positioning, general sling safety and different carrier pros and cons. You can try on or hire slings from newborn to pre-schooler.

  • 10am-11am, Bump to Baby Workshop: Devoted to the needs of parents and carers with babies under five months old who are new to Sling Library.
  • 11am-12.30pm, Halifax Drop In: For babies and children five months or older. We endeavour to give every parent a free mini sling consultation.

La Leche League

Friendly and effective mum-to-mum support for breastfeeding. You don’t have to be having problems to attend the monthly meetings – although they always get priority – bring your triumphs too and help support other mums!

Come if you’re pregnant or preparing for motherhood, a new mum, an experienced mum or a mum’s support person. Older siblings welcome.

£1 per meeting donation appreciated, and a snack to share wherever possible.

Charity providing mums, dads and their babies with clothing, bedding and other essentials, working on referrals made from healthcare practitioners and parent support agencies.

SafeSpace – Weekend Support for Adults

Out-of-hours weekend support for adults in Calderdale – a place of safety for people experiencing mental distress or approaching crisis.
