Halifax town centre will be fully closed to unauthorised vehicles on Sunday, May 5, from 6am until 3pm. This is so team busses and support vehicles can park along Horton Street, Market Street and Russell Street. Don’t worry though, pedestrians will have full access and will be able to see the cyclists arriving and preparing to race.
There will be rolling road closures when the race begins, managed by police. There is a clearway along the route, and parked vehicles must be off the route in good time. The rolling closures will last about 30 minutes.
You can roughly work out the rolling road closures from this route:
Stage 4 begins at The Piece Hall and cyclists will leave through the Southgate at 12.35pm, across Cross Street and turn left onto Horton Street, then turn left onto Square Road.
Cyclists will the ascend Winding Road and turn left onto Commercial Street, then pass The Victoria Theatre on their way to Skircoat Road.
The race then bears right onto Heath Road, and turns right onto Free School Lane, past Saville Park.
The cyclists will turn right at King Cross and head along Aachen and Burdock Way before arriving at the large roundabout, and turning left onto Ovenden. This is when the race leaves its neutralised zone and the peloton really starts to race at around 12.48pm
Then up Shay Lane and Holdsworth Road, through Bradshaw at 12.54pm. The cyclists will leave Calderdale at Green Lane at 12.57pm, and ride on towards Haworth.
All timings are approximate and may be subject to change on the day.
Visitors are encouraged to use public transport, and there will be a free, safe and secure bike parking system on Russell Street, Halifax, from 9am-3pm on race day. Bikes will be checked in and out with a tag system.
