Join in the Calderdale Rocks craze by making your own design at this workshop run by Happy Days Cycles, Sowerby Bridge.

Duck Race – Hebden Bridge

Fabulously fun duck race with entertainment, children’s rides, charity stalls and music.

The race starts at around 3.15pm when all the ducks (up to 10,000!) are launched into the river from St George’s Bridge and race to the finish line at West End Bridge.

Tickets cost £1 and you can learn all about the prizes and competition details on The Rotary Club’s website.

Easter at Eureka!

Experience a madcap, zigzag journey through the amazing world of science and technology this Easter holidays!

There are scientists whose theatrical science demonstrations throughout the museum will blow your mind, and an interactive science show – The Secret World of Gases, featuring the coolest gas of them all; liquid nitrogen.

Special guests include:

  • The Steampunk Easter Bunny conducting egg-citing science experiments. Friday, March 30-Monday, April 2.
  • Victorian scientists Anne and Lottie from Sense-O-Matic will be onsite from Tuesday, April 3 to Sunday, April 8 with their splendorous, spectacular, scientific discovery machine.
  • Audio Anarchy from Noisy Toys will reveal the mysteries of electromagnetism and sonic sound waves. Monday, April 9 to Sunday, April 15.

It’s also the last chance to explore the interactive tech playground digiPlaySpace before it leaves at the end of Easter.

Easter Bunny Fun at Shibden Hall 2018

Join the Shibden Bunny in its search for eggs and friends hidden in Cunnery wood and grounds. The fun continues afterwards, with a felt Easter-themed craft!

This activity includes a woodland walk which is not suitable for prams and buggies.

Easter Colouring (and Meet The Easter Bunny) at Westgate Arcade

Visit Westgate Arcade during the Easter Holiday to enter a fun colouring competition!

The Easter Bunny will be there handing out treats and launching the competition on Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March, 31, from 11am-3pm.

You are welcome to come and create your winning design every day from Tuesday, April 3 to Sunday, April 14 (11am-3pm) and the Easter Bunny will later choose a winner, with a prize of a £50 Westgate arcade voucher and also £50 for their school or nursery.

Easter Eggztravaganza -Mount Zion Hertigate Chapel

Easter Egg Hunt in the grounds of the chapel on March 31, crafts in the cottage and a picnic-style lunch in the chapel with tea/coffee for the adults.

There will also be an Easter Bonnet Competition with a prize for the best bonnet.

Trails cost 50p and are available from The Welcome Centre and Activity Cart. Each completed trail will receive a chocolate treat.

Easter Events at Forgotten Forest

Get outside and into nature for these fun Easter sessions at Forgotten Forest, Brighouse.

There will be games, crafts and activities, followed by hot chocolate and marshmallows around the fire. You can also climb trees, build dens, use tools, bug hunt, play in the mud kitchen, dig and play with small world dinosaurs and loose parts play.

Sessions will run in all weathers apart from high winds, so if it’s raining, wear your coat and wellies.

Ideal for children from walking to about aged ten and their adults. The site is not suitable for prams and wheelchairs.

Getting Arty at Ogden Water

Like doing crafts but don’t want the mess that comes with it? Then take the crafts outside!

Join Julie Swift and Chris Sutcliffe at Ogden Water Nature Reserve on Friday, April 13 to create some nature-inspired artwork to take home with you.

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunts: Follow the trail through the woodland, solve the clues and claim your delicious prize at the end. £2 each. Arrive early to avoid disappointment. March 30 and 31, April 1 and 2. 11am-3pm.

Build a Mini Raft: All the materials will be provided for you to try building your own mini raft – will it set sail or sink to the bottom of the mill point? April 4, noon-3pm. Meet at Gibson Mill.

Map and Compass: Free session to learn how to use a compass and navigate your way around Hardcastle Crags. Thursday, April 5. Drop-in session, arrive anytime between noon and 3pm.

Make a Bug Hotel: Use recycled and natural materials to build the best bug hotel for miles around. You can come back later in the year to take a closer look at some of the guests that our wonderful new structure has attracted. Friday, April 6. Noon-3pm. Meet at Gibson Mill.

Tree Climbing Challenge: Under the guidance of two highly-skilled instructors, learn how to enter a tree’s canopy using ropes, knots and karabiners, whilst being securely attached in a harness at all times. Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life – 2018
