Wondering what will happen with the library’s Summer Reading Challenge during COVID-19? Don’t worry, it’s going digital!
This year, the Summer Reading Challenge – open to children aged 4 to 11 – is all about having fun and getting silly, with children encouraged to read whatever makes them happy.
Launched earlier than usual to keep children reading over the summer and support parents and carers with children already at home, the all-new digital challenge is free and the website features games, quizzes and digital and downloadable activities.
Although library buildings remain closed, libraries will help deliver the challenge through virtual services and e-lending platforms. Check out the eBooks you can borrow from Calderdale Libraries here. .
Organisers hope families will have fun and just “GET SILLY!”, with children reading whatever makes them happy – be it a comic, joke book, poetry, fiction or non-fiction, in digital or print format. You can borrow an e-book through the public library service, or choose from what they already have at home. Have a look at the Summer Reading Challenge official book collectionfor ideas!
